The Annual Feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchathivu Island was concluded successfully. The feast was held with the participation of Sri Lankan and Indian devotees. The preliminary activities of the feast was commenced with the erecting of Flag Posts yesterday. Devotees from Sri Lanka and India jointly celebrated the feast. More than 8,000 devotees of both countries attended the prayer service this morning. Sri Lanka Navy provide transport, sanitation, health, food and other facilities for them. They were provided with the necessary facilities under the guidance of Northern Navy Commander Jayantha de Silva according to the directions of Navy Commander Sirimevan Ranasinghe. The final prayer service was conducted under the patronage of Jaffna Arch Bishop Justin Gnanaprakasam and with the participation of other clergy including Galle Arch Bishop Raymond Wickremasinghe. State Minister Wijayakala Maheshwaran, Chief of Defence Staff Ravindra Wijegunaratne and a group of people were present on the occasion. The Indian devotees thanked Sri Lanka Navy for providing facilities for them to attend the feast. Devotees of Sri Lanka also expressed their appreciation for the Navy for the facilities provided to them.
