The launch of the book “Hettha Hathe Daruwo” took place under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The release of the book authored by Vice President of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya and media Secretary Sunil de Silva was held at the BMICH premises.
The book gives a detailed description of how the people of the country suffered before the year 1977 and how the children of the island are enjoying. It also depicts the manner in which the country traversed on a development path. Parliamentarians, scholars, artistes and trade union representatives were among those who joined in the occasion.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam addressed the gathering.
In his speech Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Saman Athaudahetti said that they have less heard of those engaged in trade union activities serving in other areas. He recalled H.A. Seneviratne holding a high position in the CMU engaged in creative work. Also those who were actively engaged in Trade Union activities engaged in creative work very rarely. However, Sunil also comes under this category. He authored a novel in 2007 and this year he is launching his short story.
