Prof. Monte Cassim has been feted by the Japanese Government. The Japanese Emperor has presented this Honorary Award for the contribution made by him on behalf of higher education in Japan and strengthening of friendly ties between Japan and Sri Lanka.
A special official ceremony was held at the Japanese Ambassador’s official residence marking the presentation of the Japanese Special Award to Prof. Monte Cassim. It was organized under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. The event was organized by Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma. This Honorary Award was presented to Prof. Cassim on the 10th of November last year. Prof. Cassim is serving as a professor of the Ritsumeikan University of Japan from 1994. He is also the Executive Director of the Global Education and Research Centre.
Prof. Cassim has launched many social service projects in Sri Lanka under Japanese aid.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said that Prof. Cassim has worked to strengthen ties in a number of fields including education between Sri Lanka and Japan. Also Japanese Ambassador Kenichi Suganuma lauded Prof. Cassim.
Speaking at this function Prof. Cassim pointed out that this Award received from Japan was a massive strength.
