Thilaka Jayasundera assumed duties this morning as the new Chairperson of the Independent Television Media Network marking the launch of a new chapter in the media field.
Thilaka Jayasundera is also serving as the Additional Secretary, Development and Planning of the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media. Having a vast experience in the administrative field, she had also served as the Director of the National Productive Secretariat. Thilaka Jayasundera becomes the first Chairperson of ITN assuming duties in the new post.
She also becomes the first in the history of the country to serve as the first Chairman of a mass media institution in Sri Lanka. In addition this is the first time that a senior Government Administrative Officer is holding the office of Chairman in a state establishment. Mrs. Jayasundera is also a Chartered Accountant.
Present at the assumption of her duties were officials of the Ministry of Finance and Media, Government Information Director General Sudarshana Gunawardena, ITN Chief Executive Officer Chandana Tilakaratne, Working Director Wimal Ketipearachchi, General Manager Aruna Wijesinghe and members of the higher management.
