President Maithripala Sirisena says that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the country to attend International Wesak Day celebrations and will not sign any agreement during his visit. He said that propaganda conducted by certain media websites and social media networks in connection with the Indian Prime Minister’s visit are totally false. President Maithripala Sirisena said this while attending the centenary celebrations of Batticaloe, Oddamawali Maha Vidyalaya. The President viewed the trade and educational exhibition organized in connection with the celebrations. The President opened the three story administrative building of the school. President Maithripala Sirisena was presented with the souvenir issued in connection with the centenary celebrations. Speaking on the occasion the President said that Sri Lanka has received the friendly cooperation of all countries. He said that Sri Lanka can be developed by using their cooperation. He further said that a group of extremists are trying to break the trust and peace that should prevailed between all communities to achieve that objective. He pointed out that the people should really understand this situation. The President said that a special programme will be implemented to improve educational standards of the children in the eastern province. Principal A.M. Haleem Ishard presented a memento to the President. Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, State Minister V. Raddhakrishna, Deputy Minister Ameer Ali, Eastern Province Governor Austin Fernando and a group of people were present on the occasion.
