A new house construction programme has been launched for 240 families resettled in the Polonnaruwa District. The estimated expenditure is around 207 million rupees.
These houses are coming up in the resettled villages which were earlier under terrorist threat. These villages include Sinhapura, Welikanda, Nelumwewa and Borawewa.
The families that evacuated these villages in the face of terrorist threats returned for resettlement at the request of the President. Construction of houses is being expedited for such families that have returned to their villages.
Arrangements have also been finalized to provide them with the required infrastructure including water, electricity and roads.
