The European Commission has decided to grant the GSP Plus
facility to Sri Lanka which is another achievement of the Good Governance Administration.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Belgium Rodney Perera expressed his views on the granting of the GSP Plus facility to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Ambassador said that this morning in Brussels, the European Commission, one of the main institutions of the European Union, took a decision to grant the GSP Plus trade concessions to Sri Lanka. This was a process started two years ago by the new Government under the leadership of the President and the Prime Minister as well as the Foreign Minister.
He said that the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister visited Brussels in the recent past to launch this process to lodge the application for the GSP Plus facility to bring enormous benefits to the business community and the people of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly the European Commission at the highest level took the decision to grant this Trade Facility to Sri Lanka.
