Minister Ravi Karunayake has said that the budget of the new Government for next year will be presented in Parliament on November 20th. He pointed out that the Government expected to take into consideration the views expressed by every faction incorporating all constructive proposals in the budget.
The Finance Minister announced that the first budget of the Maithripala Sirisena-Ranil Wickremasinghe Government will be presented in Parliament on the 20th of November. Much relief will be granted to the public in this budget. He appealed to the public to submit good views on the budget to the Finance Ministry. He said they will not hesitate to accept good views submitted by the public.
A meeting between Minister Ravi Karunayake and President of the British based Institute of Management of Chartered Accountants Madeleine Marion took place at the Finance Ministry today. Madeleine mentioned that he is much satisfied with the situation prevailing in Sri Lanka.
Addressing the media after this meeting, Minister Ravi Karunayake said that he intended to make a special statement within the next two days on the current financial situation in the country.
Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that various statements had been made with regard to the financial situation in the country. Whatever happens in the world, it is their obligation to safeguard Sri Lanka. He said that they would have discussions and solicit support of experts and the Finance Secretary as to what initiatives should be taken and would reveal of their plans within two days.
