The Government Medical Officers Association says that they would resort
to trade union action if the Government takes measures to recognize unqualified individuals as doctors. The Secretary, GMOA, Dr. Navin de Soysa said that a group of people who are not doctors are trying to become doctors by using the legal system and the Parliament of the country. The GMOA will not allow people without qualifications to become doctors under any circumstances. He said that the GMOA would take trade union action next week. He added that the Government should give an assurance to them that it would not recognize this group or the institution, in order to refrain from taking trade union action.
