Major General Palitha Fernando who served as Chairman of Rakna Lanka Securities Company has been permitted to travel abroad.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court permitted him to be out of the island from the 24th to the 31th of this month to participate in an Athletics Sports conference in Doha Qatar.
Several persons including Palitha Fernando are accused of causing a loss of 11.4 billion rupees to the Government by permitting the operation of a floating armoury earning an excessive profit to the Avant Garde Maritime Services Private Company. Accordingly the suspects were barred from foreign travel.
The Court ordered the release of the passport of Palitha Fernando on a bond. Seven suspects including Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa are already enlarged on bail with regard to this case.
