Former Narahenpita OIC Crimes enlarged on bail

Former Narahenpita OIC Crimes Sumith Champika Perera has been enlarged on bail. He was in remand prison over the murder of national rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.
Sumith Champika Perera was released on bail after the Colombo High Court took up for consideration an amended petition. High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatilake released him on a cash bail of 100,000 rupees and three sureties of one million rupees each.
He was also ordered to report to the Criminal Investigations Department on the last Sunday of every month and warned that he would be remanded again if he attempted to influence the inquiries that are in progress.
An order was also issued to hand over his passport to court. Sumith Perera was arrested and remanded on charges of concealing evidence in the murder of Ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.
