The Narahenpita Former Crimes OIC who was taken into custody on suspicion that he had concealed information on the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen has been remanded.
The remand order was given by Colombo Additional Magistrate Augusta Atapattu.
The Criminal Investigations Department took measures to record statements on six occasions from Sumith Champika Perera, the Former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita. The CID sleuths informed the judiciary that these statements were contradictory. Inquiries have been held after reporting the death of Thajudeen as a motor accident.
The officials of the Criminal Investigations Department further told the judiciary that they obstruct enlarging the suspect on bail as murder charges have been levelled against him.
They further said that the OIC Traffic who should have conducted the inquiries had been carried out by the OIC Crimes Division. Accordingly the suspect was remanded until the 12th of this month.
