FCID makes inquiries about MP Namal from the Parliamentary Secretary General

The FCID has made inquiries from the Parliamentary Secretary General whether Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa had cast his vote in the approval of the Act of Supporting and Protecting Victims and Witnesses.
The Attorney General has forwarded a complaint to the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa. It has been made under the Act of Supporting and Protecting Victims and Witnesses. Rohitha Rajapaksa was summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department recently with regard to the launch of a satellite. On this particular day the entire Rajapaksa family had come to the CID. The media had reported that on this occasion Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa had berated and threatened a Sub Inspector of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division. The related officer had recorded a statement in this respect at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division.
Police Media Spokesman Police Superintendent Ruwan Gunasakara said that this had also been reported to Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya. Several legislative decrees which did not draw the attention of the previous government under the 100-day programme of the Government of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe were taken up in Parliament and among them was the Bill for Supporting and Protecting Victims and Witnesses that was adopted. It is based on this Act that this complaint had been lodged on Namal Rajapaksa. The Police Media Spokesman said that a complaint in this regard had also been made to the Attorney General. Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya informed the Police to take appropriate action on Namal Rajapaksa according to Police powers.
