Six reports of the sub committees on drafting constitution have been forwarded to the Constitutional Assembly, when it met at the parliament complex today. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe has submitted the reports to the Constitutional Assembly. The reports of sub committees on fundamental rights, judiciary, finance, law and order, public service, relations between central government and provincial council have been submitted. The Prime Minster said the preliminary debate on the reports can be held on 09th, 10th, and 11th of January. MP Anura Kumara Disanayake said that public consent was not asked for, when preparing the 1972 and 1978 constitutions. He pointed out that drafting the constitution with public consent this time was significant. The Constitutional Assembly is scheduled to meet again on the 10th of next month.
