Chinese PLA Navy’s most advanced hospital ship arrives in the island

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy’s most advanced hospital ship, Daishan Dao or “Ark Peace” called at the Colombo Harbour today. The ship has arrived in the island on a four day visit.
Performing Mission Harmony 2017, Ark Peace was welcomed according to naval traditions. Many Chinese nationals living in Sri Lanka were present at the Harbour to welcome the ship. The hospital ship would provide medical assistance to Sri Lankans free of charge. The PLAN hospital ship Ark Peace deploys regularly, conducting humanitarian missions in the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia, as well as participating in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise in 2014 and 2016. It is 178 metres long and 24 metres in width.
The ship has a staff of 380 members and is equipped with all modern facilities including operating theatres, Intensive Care Units, Specialist Services and indoor treatment. The vessel also has a helicopter to transport patients in case of an emergency.
