Bus and train services operative for commuters returning after New Year holidays

The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority said that claims that sufficient transport facilities are being accorded to the people who had gone to their hometowns for the New Year season, to return to cities.
Special bus and train services are operative from every main town from yesterday. Our correspondents reported that many used their transport services this morning to return to the main towns. Action was taken to operate these bus and train services according to a special time schedule.
A special train operated from the Galle station to Maradana this morning. Also our correspondent reported that many special bus services operated from the Galle Central Bus Stand to Colombo and other areas. Special bus services also operated along the Southern Expressway.
A special sticker was pasted by the Sri Lanka Transport Board Depot in Hatton for the safety of the passengers. These could be used to protest and lodge complaints against the bus drivers if they used mobile phones during driving.
The Hatton SLTB Depot Inspector said that a disciplinary inquiry will be conducted against drivers who flout the law and action taken to interdict them.
