The identification of constructors and investors in the proposed medium class accelerated housing development programme commenced today.
The purpose of this programme is to expedite the construction of medium class houses, a project proposed for implementation by the Government. The medium class housing development programme is an idea mooted by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. The medium class community will be afforded housing facilities at a sum which they could bear.
The Housing Development Authority said that the programme will be implemented covering all urban areas in the island during the next few years. It is planned to construct 500,000 houses. The programme will be mooted by the Housing Development Authority under the guidance of Minister Sajith Premadasa. Initially lands will be allocated.The consent of the investors will be sought from today for the building of the houses at Dambuwatte in Ragama, Ranpokunugama in Attanagalle, Nugagahakandawatte in Panadura, Captain Gardens in Akmeemana, Iskagarawatte in Kundasale, Jaltara Stage Two in Homagama, Moung Cliffors in Homagama and Werellawatte in Yakkala
