Buddhist monks say that everyone should work unitedly to take the county forward without making it destabilized. Chief Sangahanayaka of Pathadumbara and Medadumbara Venerable Thalpotha Dhamma Jothi Thera said that the local government elections cannot change the administration of the country. He requested the President and the Prime Minister to take the country forward as they have also gained international recognition during the recent past. He wished that they would get the strength to move forward the country by cleaning up both the Government and the opposition. Chief Monk of Kadugannawa Kurunduwatta Sri Sudharshanaramaya Venerable Yatiwaldeniye Medhankara Thera said that the 19th amendment to the constitution says about the appointment and the removal of the Prime Minister. He said that due to the 19th amendment to the constitution the Prime Minister cannot be removed by the President according to his wishes. He said that it is a responsibility of the Mahanayake Theras to advice when there is a confusion in the country. He said it is the responsibility and the duty of the Government to follow the advice of the Mahanayaka theras. He further said that they hoped the President and the Prime Minister would take necessary measures to normalize the situation in the country.
