Constructions of the Matara – Beliatta Railway track have been completed by 60 per cent. A progress review meeting took place at the office of Matara – Beliatta Railway track project. The project is scheduled to be completed on the 31st of this month. Therefore it was decided to extend the contract period until 24th of December this year and to surcharge the contractor, if they could not complete the rail track during that time period. More than 278 Million Dollars are being spent on the entire project. Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva inspected the constructions of the project after the meeting. A bridge is being built over the Nilwala River. An underground rail way tunnel, which is 615 meters long, is being constructed at the Nakuttiya area.
