Aloka Pooja at Kelani Vihare to commemorate war heroes

An Aloka Pooja to light 28,619 lamps will be held at the Kelani Vihare on the day after tomorrow. It is being organized parallel to the National War Heroes Day commemorated on Saturday.
This Aloka Pooja is being held to commemorate members of the Sri Lanka Army, the Police and the Civil Defence Force who sacrificed their lives in the war. A Gilanpasa Pooja and a Hewisi Pooja are due to be held.
President Maithripala Sirisena, the Chief of Defence Staff, Chiefs of the Armed Forces, the Inspector General of Police and the Director of the Civil Defence Department are due to join in this occasion.
A main Ranaviru Commemorative function is also scheduled to be held on Saturday afternoon near the Ranaviru monument in Battaramulla.
