The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Relations has said that a consensus has been reached to sort out issues that had arisen between the workers of the Ports Authority and the management. Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne said that this agreement was reached at a discussion held after both parties were summoned to the Labour Ministry.
Earlier, on two occasions the management of the Ports Authority and Trade Unions were separately summoned to make inquiries about the issues. Minister Arjuna Ranatunge and Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranatunge representing the management joined in the discussion held at the Ministry. At this discussion, Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne had emphasized that both parties should work in accordance with the concensus reached.
