You will be surprised to hear about a group of people who try to save lives of others without any benefits to themselves. Although humans cannot harm another one’s life with poison in their mind, it is an easy task for serpents. Venom treatment hospital in Kelaniya has been established to save lives if a fatal poison enters the body of an individual. The hospital which is under Sri Lanka Ayurveda Venomous Medical Association is also equipped with a medical college. Dr. Vinitha Kalyani Pathiraja said that all the work at the hospital is done by volunteers without any Government assistance. She said that all those who seek treatment are being provided with medication without any differences. She further said that the first aid given after a poison enters an individual’s body is crucial. This hospital which is unknown to many celebrated its 37th Anniversary for two days at the hospital premises. Several services including Eye Clinics, Kidney tests and special programmes for senior citizens took place during the ceremony.
