Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the main development plan for the South Province will be presented to the country in March. The Prime Minister made these comments after a discussion at Temple Trees today. A discussion on measures to be taken for Southern province development was held at Temple Trees under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Secretary to the Prime Minister, Saman Ekanayaka, Secretary to the Ministry of Law and Peace, Pathmasiri Jayamanne and Southern Development Authority Chairman Shirantha Herath also took part.
Speaking to the media, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that they hope to do a major revolution in the plantation industries and agricultural sector that have not been breathed a new lease of life for many years.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe noted that modernization will be introduced to southern province in the near future. Trade in the region will be upgraded.
An eco-friendly economy will be developed around Sinharaja forest and new income generation avenues will be created. He added that a special eco-friendly tourism zone will formed in between Deniyaya and Rakwana.
