The 05th Asian Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum 2016 opened
in Colombo today. The three day conference being held for the first time in Sri Lanka brings together policymakers, scientists, donors, youths and representatives from more than 50 countries.
The opening of the Forum took place under the patronage of Minister Susil Premajayantha. The conference is being attended by around 650 foreign representatives. It is being organized by the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment.
Addressing the opening sessions, Minister Susil Premajayantha said that the Forum is a fitting opposition to minimize the harm done to the environment through human activities and finding solutions to such issues. Co-Chairman of the Asian Pacific Regional Climate Conference Prof. Masaka Watanabe and Secretary to the Ministry of Mahaweli Development Udaya R. Seneviratne were among those who joined in the occasion.
