2,592 trainee graduates received appointments, parallel
to the one million jobs programme that is in place, based on a concept of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The event was organized at Temple Trees and held under the auspices of Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara.
The trainee graduates who received their appointments will be assigned to Ministries and Departments of the Central Government for a one-year training period effective from tomorrow. It is hoped to solicit a major contribution from them to successfully realize the development programmes launched by the Government.
A group including Ministers Vajira Abeywardena and Talatha Athukorale and Deputy Minister Susantha Punchinilame was present on the occasion.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara pointed out that the Government had granted appointments to 7000 persons in the Public Service. He mentioned that these appointments had been given during the last three months.
The Minister said that parties that are against the Government was saying that the Government was reducing the number of workers in the Public Service.
As the Public Administration Minister, he said he wished to point out that during the past three months they had recruited 7000 to the Public Sector. Action is being taken to further strengthen the Public Service.
