Grama Niladhari recommendation is sufficient for the transport of less than 35 cubes of soil

State Minister Ajith Manapperuma has said that if soil less than 35 cubes are transported the recommendation of the Grama Sevaka will be considered as permit. He expressed this view joining in a news conference.
The State Minister said that if 35 cubes of soil is being transported for the construction of one’s own house and if the Grama Niladhari is aware of it, an approved plan or an approval of the Divisional Secretary is not needed.
The Grama Niladhari can provide a certificate which would be considered as a permit. But there is a law that the soil cannot be transported in big trucks but in lorries of two cubes or less and also the transport should be undertaken between 6 am and 6 pm. The circular in this respect has been issued on the 12.
The State Minister said the Grama Niladhari’s approval is effective only within the Divisional Secretariat Division and only if the transport is being undertaken from a Grama Niladhari Division to that of a Division adjacent to it.
