3D-printed Sushi makes SXSW debut

Japanese company “Open Meals” drew crowds at the South by Southwest festival when it’s 3D sushi printer made its debut.”Open Meals,” says it wants to change the way food is brought to the table with its technology that 3D-prints sushi tailor-made according to the customer’s dietary and nutritional needs.

In order to do this, “Open Meals” collects a sample of saliva, urine or stool from users. It then analyses these samples to 3D-print sushi with optimal nutrition that is custom-made for every individual.”Then we add those specific nutritions to your food to 3D print out those sushis for you,” said an “Open Meals” representative at SXSW.The SXSW festival is held annually in Austin, Texas, and encompasses tech, entertainment and politics.
