Ogier tops timesheets after day one of Rally Mexico

France’s Sebastien Ogier moved to the top of the timesheets at Rally Mexico after early leader Andreas Mikkelsen was forced to retire with mechanical trouble.Mikkelsen held the lead until partway through the fifth stage, a repeat of the 31.57 kilometre El Chocolate stage, when he stopped his Hyundai i20 on the side of the road and Ogier powered his Citroen DS3 to the stage win. By the end of the day Ogier had stretched his overall lead to almost 15 seconds better than second placed M-Sport Ford driver Elfyn Evans with third placed Kris Meeke another six seconds back in his Toyota.2019 WRC leader Ott Tanak sits in fourth place after sweeping gravel all day followed by Esapekka Lappi in fifth and Thierry Neuville in sixth.
