U.S. skaters take ice cross honours in Boston

Double world ice cross champion Cameron Naasz of the U.S. took a step closer to his third title with victory in Boston. Naasz posted the best time in Friday morning’s time trials and went into the final as clear favourite having won all his qualifying rounds on the 350 metre track in Fenway Park. Naasz went straight into the lead and held it to the line, finishing ahead of Austrian Luca Dallago with Canada’s Scott Croxall, the defending world champion, third. France’s Tristan Dugerdil tried to gatecrash the podium with a dive on the line but just failed. With three races left in the season, Naasz tops the title race with Croxall second.
In the women’s event, American Amanda Trunzo took the lead soon after the start and going on to win from Canadian Myriam Trépanier and Tamara Meuwissen of the U.S. Swiss Anaïs Morand finished fourth. In the standings, Trunzo is second in the championship behind Jacqueline Legere of Canada, who didn’t make it to the final in Boston.
