Hundreds of skiing Santas bring holiday cheer to the slopes of Maine

More than 200 people donned Santa Claus costumes and skis to hit the slopes for the 19th annual “Santa Sunday” in Maine. The slopes and lifts at the Sunday River resort were packed with revelers sporting Santa’s signature red suit with white trim. This year’s event raised $4,000 for local charities, according the resort’s website. While some skiers went as far as to sport fake Santa inspired beards, others chose to embody the mythical figure’s jolly persona. The “Santas” could be heard bellowing “Ho. Ho. Ho” and ringing bells as they skied and snowboarded down the mountain.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people dressed as Father Christmas took to the streets of Liverpool for the English city’s annual Santa Dash race. Runners, joggers and walkers dressed in red and blue Santa outfits gathered at Liverpool’s Canada Boulevard to begin the 5km race around the city. Local media reported that over 1,500 competitors had registered to take part in the fun run this year.
