Dozens stranded as flash floods hit Turkish tourist hub of Bodrum

Flash floods triggered by heavy rains left dozens of people stranded in Aegean resort of Bodrum wreaking havoc in the popular holiday resort.

Main roads of Bodrum remained under flood waters, partially submerging cars and leaving people stranded, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported. Several people were rescued by excavators as residents waded through flooded streets to return home.

Dozens of cars were washed away by flood waters and many shops and restaurants were severely damaged.

It said many homes were also flooded. Municipality of Bodrum said efforts were underway to rescue stranded passengers and drain flood waters.
