India remembers victims of Mumbai attacks on 10th anniversary

India paid tribute to the more than 160 people killed in a series of 2008 Islamist militant attacks in the city of Mumbai, on the 10th anniversary of the assault.

Events were held at some of the sites of the three-day attack, while security at the iconic sea-facing Taj Mahal Palace hotel was stepped up.

The hotel was one of the places stormed by 10 gunmen who infiltrated the financial hub by boat and spent three days destroying various city landmarks.

Mumbai’s Chabad House, a Jewish centre the gunmen attacked, unveiled a memorial to the victims, renaming the centre the “Nariman Light House”.

Politicians also attended a ceremony paying tribute to the victims at a Martyrs’ Memorial in downtown Mumbai.
