Pollution-reducing pavement to fight smog in Warsaw

A pavement of newly-laid slabs in the centre of Warsaw looks no different than any others, but passers-by heading to offices around Daszynski Roundabout may feel the difference in the quality of air they are breathing.

Polish real estate developer Skanska laid part of the pavement with slabs using a special type of photocatalytic concrete that reduces pollutants from car fumes.

It is part of a bigger office complex where an area the size of a football pitch will be paved with ‘eco-concrete’, representing the first such use in a commercial investment in Central-Eastern Europe.
