Central Park and Times Square see first snow of the season

The first winter storm of the U.S. northeast began dumping snow and freezing rain, leaving Central Park and Times Square coated in white. The storm, which the U.S. weather service says will span from the Ohio Valley to the mid-Atlantic, may eventually bring over a foot (30 cm) of snow in parts of Pennsylvania and New York but said the worst of the storm will remain west of New York City. New York City is likely to see only 1 to 3 inches (7.6 cm) before the storm turns into rain.Weather forecasters have said the New York area may expect a snowier than usual winter this year.
