Federer breezes past Thiem to get back on track at ATP Finals

Roger Federer cruised past Austria’s Dominic Thiem in straight sets, 6-2 6-3, at London’s O2 Arena to reignite his hopes of qualifying for the final four at the ATP Finals. Federer was far better than during his surprise defeat against Kei Nishikori and he took advantage of an erratic performance from world number Thiem. The Swiss was cutting down the errors which saw him slump against Nishikori and two breaks of the Thiem serve saw him canter to the opening set in just 31 minutes. The six-time ATP Finals champion is chasing a first crown at the O2 Arena since 2011 and a 100th of his career, and he continued where he left off in the second set with some classy shotmaking and immaculate movement.
