Hong Kong’s Wong Ho Chung wins Atacama Crossing ultramarathon

Hong Kong’s Wong Ho Chung won the gruelling Atacama Crossing ultramarathon, the third leg of the 2018 4 Deserts Ultramarathon Series.Wong won the 250km, 155 mile race in 24 hours and 20 minutes, five hours ahead of the second-placed Takuya Wakaoka, from Japan.South African Lara Reynolds was the first placed women’s competitor.36 nationalities were represented in the race, which saw competitors endure intense heat, freezing nights and harsh terrain in the driest desert in the world.The fourth and final desert ultramarathon event for the year will be held in Antarctica in November.
