Mexican university students protest after outbreak of campus violence

Thousands of university students from Mexico City’s acclaimed UNAM (Autonomous University of Mexico) university marched on the capital  to demand greater security after a recent outbreak of violence on campus.Yesterday’s march came on the 50th anniversary of the 1968 student massacre when soldiers fired on protesting university students, killing hundreds.

A recent spate of violence has now rocked university students in the country. Earlier this month, a group of thugs entered UNAM campus grounds and attacked students. In April, three Mexican film students were killed and their bodies dissolved in acid after they were reportedly enmeshed in an ongoing war between rival cartels.
