Wallaby joeys take walkabout in new outdoor habitat

Three wallaby joeys spent a recent day zipping around their new home at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s latest exhibit, Walkabout Australia.The trio of 11-month-old females are settling into their grassy habitat after being released from an animal care center.They are now fitting in with the adult kangaroos and wallabies that share their habitat and starting to display their natural behaviors and individual personalities. The joeys currently stand over 20 inches tall and weigh between 9 and 13 pounds each.

When full grown, wallaby females can weigh between 26 and 35 pounds and reach a length of up to 3 feet from head to tail. Wallabies are members of the kangaroo family and are found primarily in Australia and on nearby islands.An octogenarian flying trapeze artist, the owner of the world’s fastest jet-propelled go-kart and a dog named Feather with a flair for jumping are among the record-breaking stars to win a place in the latest edition of Guinness World Records.
