Dog vision project analyses canine behaviour through sight

Kelp, a six-year old Alaskan Malumute, is put through her paces in a Seattle park. Loaded down with technology she is part of a project, known as DECADE, designed to help researchers at the University of Washington and the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, understand how what a dog sees impacts its actions. A GoPro point-of-view camera on Kelp’s head enables researchers to see exactly what the dog is looking at when walking and exercising. There is one main challenge, as lead researcher Kiana Ehsani explained to Reuters. In addition to the video, a backpack with a spaghetti-like plethora of colored wires coming from it is slipped over Kelps head.
