Al Haj Moulavi Niyas Mohammed has passed away

Al Haj Moulavi Niyas Mohammed, who rendered a priceless service to the country, has passed away.

A household name not only in Sri Lanka but also in the Indian sub continent, Moulavi Niyas Mohammed served as an advisor to the President on Religious Affairs. He was loved not only by Muslims, but also by the Sinhalese, the Hindus and Christian brethren. His mission has been upholding peace and harmony everywhere. He respected every religion and every faith. He has been honoured with various titles. He was a gifted orator and had participated in various programmes including “Doramandalawa” telecast by ITN to educate the public.

He passed away suddenly in Badulla this morning. The funeral will be held in Colombo this afternoon.. He has been honoured with various titles.

    very sad Incident….Last Monday he visited Doramadalawa and told many good idea for death..unfortunately today he passed away..Not only Muslim persons but also all sri Lankans were shocked & shunned this unexpected situation.In this fact his demise left a big void to the country cannot be filled esily..

    I am a Sri Lankan Buddhist. I love to watch him on Doramadalawa. I will miss him and many others will. It is a great loss for all Sri Lankans!
