JVP says no evidence of computer manipulation
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva has said that they had no clear evidence of computer manipulation of results.
He made a statement today pointing out that they did not include the computer manipulation allegation in the election petition filed by the Opposition candidate as they did not possess clear evidence in this respect. However, the Opposition candidate and the JVP leadership including Somawansa Amarasinghe had repeatedly accused that there had been a manipulation in the computer results.
Expressing his views over this issue, Minister Nandana Gunatilake referred the JVP’s history of concocting tales with the purpose of inciting the public. He claimed that the JVP cannot find clear evidence. This is their downfall. Since the presidential election, the JVP is falling apart. Since 2005, JVP leaders were trying to deceit the public by making false statements. The minister noted that the JVP has proved by themselves that their computer manipulation allegation was a bogus statement.
Briefing the media today, Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena stated that a case has been filed in court over the computer manipulation allegation. But he queried as to whether there was such type of allegation. If so, why had they not included it in the petition. He noted that they attempted to find a new topic for the forthcoming election by making such statements.
