President pays homage to the Sri Maha Bodhi

The President paid homage to the historic Sri Maha Bodhi.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who arrived in Anuradhapura this morning paid homage to the Sri Maha Bodhi. Members of the Maha Sangha led by the Chief Incumbent of the Atamastana Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on the President. The President also exchanged views with the devotees present. The President also called on the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Seya Ven. Pallegama Hemaratana Thera. The President also called on the Chief Incumbent of the Mirisawetiya Vihare Ven. Eithala-wetunu-wewa Gnanatillake Thera. Deputy Minister S.M. Chandrasena and Chief Minister of the north-central province S.M. Ranjith were also participated in the occasion.
Meanwhile the student who scored 190 marks in the grade 5 scholarship examination and topped the north-central province Janindu Chirantha Edirisinghe from Pathiraja Tennakoon primary model school met President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning at President’s House in Anuradhapura. The President appreciated his talent and handed over gifts to him.
