Prepared to surmount health challenges

The Government’s intention is to surmount all challenges within the Health Sector during the next six years. This has been emphasized by President Rajapaksa in Ratnapura.

The President pointed out the need to find proper solutions to situations such as dengue which is hindering the people. Dengue is the talk of the day. Even newspapers carry such reports. The value of life cannot be estimated. As a Government, it is their responsibility to protect the lives of the people as well as their health, as lives are valuable than anything else. As such, the President said they are ready to carry out the necessary work in this respect. The Government will not hesitate to get down drugs even from abroad. It is ready to fulfill this task. He emphasized that their responsibility and goal was to ensure a better health and create the salutary environment for the people to lead healthy lives.

The President patronized in the opening of the new maternity and child unit of the Ratnapura General Hospital. This two-storied building is equipped with a wards complex. The expenditure incurred was 25 million rupees. The wards complex was built under the patronage of the Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda thera and the support of philanthropists of the Mahamewuna Bhavana Asappuwa.
