Naval ship “Thambapanni” commissioned

The Puttalam Naval Deployment which was initially established in December 2008, has been commissioned as the Sri Lanka Naval Ship “Thambapanni”.

The commissioning warrant was awarded by the President. It was awarded to Commanding Officer of “Thambapanni”, Commander J.A.J.K. Perera, by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Tisara Samarasinghe at the commissioning ceremony held yesterday. It was organsied under the patronage of Commander of the North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Dias. Religious dignitaries of the area, Commanders of the Western Naval Area and North Central Naval Area and many senior Officers of the Naval Headquarters were present.
