President invites public to witness water filling
President Rajapaksa has extended an invitation to the people to be present at the Hambantota Harbour on the day it will be filled with water. He called on the people to join him on this memorable occasion.
The President said it is for the first time in history that five harbours are being constructed simultaneously. The Hambantota Harbour will be filled with water on the 15th of next month.
Everybody should be present to witness the occasion. He stressed that the people should bring their children as well as a harbour of this magnitude has never been built in the country.
He noted that the people should be proud of about the work being carried out under the party leadership. His intention was to improve the livelihoods of the people.
Their journey cannot be stopped despite the comments made by certain sectors. He said that such e;ements would not be successful as long as the Government had public support.
The President made these observations when he participated in a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of assumption of office by lSirimavo Bandaranaike as the first world’s woman Prime Minister.







It is a good sign to witness that the rural economy are being uplifted through the current development strategy. Minimizing irregularities in development between the western province and other provinces will initiate unity among rural and urban people, safeguarding the notion of 'all people are created equal' which is a must for a brighter nation.
