Sarath Fonseka who is charged in the White Flag case has been indicted.

The indictment was filed before a three Judge Bench consisting of judges Deepali Wijesundara, W.M.P.B. Warawewa and Zulfikar Razeem. The Defence Counsels said that a request for bail will not be made as there are several cases pending against him.

Deputy Solicitor General Lasantha Navaratna Bandara who represents the Government said that bail cannot be granted as this case has been filed under Emergency Regulations.

The panel of Judges ordered that a report be produced on the 27th September Sarath Fonseka’s fingerprints are taken.

The Attorney General has filed the case against Sarath Fonseka for allegedly making a false statement to the Sunday Leader newspaper that LTTE leaders were killed on an order by the Defence Secretary and thereby placing state defence at risk. The Chief Justice decided to appoint a High Court Trial at Bar considering it as a public interest case.
