Permission to record statement from Mattakkuliya suspect

Colombo Additional Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe has permitted the police to interrogate and secure a statement from Gayan Priyashantha alias “Kaluwa”, the main suspect in the incident related to the attack on the Mattakkuliya Police.

The suspect who surrendered to the Judiciary recently was remanded. Officials of the Colombo Crimes Division sought the permission of the Court to interrogate the suspect when the case was taken up today. The Official were permitted to interrogate in the court premises and secure a statement. The Magistrate ordered that two other suspects who were produced in courts in relation to the attack be further remanded.
