Rice consumption high

The Government’s programme to encourage local agriculture products, has obtained successful results. The Director General of Agriculture says that the rice consumption has increased significantly.

Agriculture Authorities has observed about a 15 percent increase in per capita rice consumption. The Director General of Agriculture says that the per capita rice consumption of 100 kilograms per year has increased to 115 kilograms. He pointed out that people who consume wheat flour has now taken to rice consumption. The Government hopes to further induce rice consumption since it has observed a increased level of malnutrition in the areas where the wheat floor consumption is high.
