Stranded fishermen rescued in South Africa

A Sri Lankan fishing craft has run ashore on the beaches of South Africa.

This fishing craft went missing from the 22nd of February this year. The craft is reported to have set sail from Beruwela. The crew had been the boat’s owner and three others. They have been identified as Sarath Perera, Suresh, Bermy and R. Manoj.

The four had been in the boat and rescued by the South African Coast Guard while drifting close to the shore. The Ministry of External Affairs is discussing with its South African counterpart regarding arrangements to get the fishermen back to the island.

    These fishermen landed in the shores of Seychelles and are presently in Seychelles.Hope the Ministry of External affairs (S.L) will liase with its South African Counterpart and the Sri Lankan High Commission (S.A.) as per this news item to ensure speedy return of these fishermen back to Sri Lanka.
