Migrant ship with LTTE suspects nears Guatemala

A ship carrying over 200 Sri Lankan asylum seekers including LTTE suspects heading for Canada.

The ship has been sighted near Guatemala. The 59-metre ship MV Sun Sea was yesterday seen near Guatemala, carrying more than 219 illegal Sri Lankan Tamil migrants and 12 Indian Tamil migrants.

The ship earlier headed for Australia. It is now reportedly headed for British Columbia. The Canadian authorities have been placed on alert.
